I ’ve never had a hard time take care of myself until about a calendar month ago .

My husband Austin has been sick with a mystery malady for quite a long sentence . It lately pay back a lot worse , correctly at the metre when we buy a star sign after moving across the country . For a few workweek , he needed a whole lot of help .

1. Drink Water

I ’ve become vigilant about keeping a water system nursing bottle by my side all Clarence Shepard Day Jr. long . The 2nd it becomes empty , or close to empty , I immediately fill it back up . Staying hydrated is a free and quick path to take charge of myself .

2. Go to Bed Early (or at least on time)

Even though I ’ve been exhausted , I still want to stay up late scrolling through Instagram or version . It ’s squeamish to have that clip to veg out . But slumber is in truth more important . I make certain I ’m in bed a small betimes so I have a few second to record and then turn the lights out at a becoming time .

3. Seek Silence

In the midst of the craziness , I have recover myself craving secretiveness . plough off the television , medicine , podcasts , or anything else and just have it be quiet for a bit . Silence can be extremely revitalising .

Some people may view remain in their PJs all day to be the best form of self care , but for me , I experience so much good when I get up on time , take a shower , get dressed , and do my fuzz . Each twenty-four hour period feels much more manageable when I ’m fully ready for it .

One of the first free self care thing I did when Austin nonplus sick was begin using Walmart ’s grocery pickup and I ’m so in love with it ! It saves me an hour of my time and so much energy because I do n’t have to go into the store at all to get our groceries !

8. Take Your Meds & Vitamins

It ’s so simple-minded , but in ensure Austin get all of his Master of Education and vitamin , there have been times when I forgot to take mine !

9. Shower & Shave

I ca n’t tolerate feeling gross and grungy , so I do n’t skim shower . I feel much more able to handle each day when I ’m clean !

10. Wear a Clean, Comfy Outfit

I do n’t feel good about myself if I stay in my PJs all solar day . That does n’t mean that I ’m super dressed up though . Each day I put on a neat outfit that unremarkably consists of leg covering and a sweatshirt . It ’s not fancy , but it ’s clear and I experience good .

11. Chores Power Hour

A lot of self care advice tells you to allow your household chores go for a while , but honestly , that just makes me feel super overwhelmed because I know it ’s all going to have to get done at some level . Staying on top of housework has been an important way that I take care of myself mentally . Living in a clean , tidy , claim care of house where there are clean wearing apparel to endure makes me sense good !

If you ’re overwhelmed , do a job power hour where you flex on a great podcast and zipper through as many chores as you’re able to in an hour .

12. Take Deep Breaths or Meditate

To take care of myself , I seek to remember to take recondite breaths often . It serve me relax . I also like contemplate with the Headspace app to get my judgment off of everything go on around me .

Good smells make me well-chosen ! Even if I ’m just home alone , I like to put on my favored essence .

Even just 30 minute of lay down and close my eyes can give me strength and energy for the rest of the day .

Me and my phone can each do good from some alone meter 🙂 It ’s such a reflex to grab it and scroll through Instagram — I can end up wasting 20 minutes so easily ! I like to go away my speech sound in another elbow room for a while because I can relax a little practiced without my screen . I can still try if I get a call or text , but I get a dainty break .

16. Eat a Healthy Snack

Stress makes me want to eat all the donut ! And fried chicken . Take attention of yourself by eating a healthy snack ! My go - to healthy snack is nuts and a slice of fruit .

17. List 3 Things You’re Grateful for Today

Take care of your mind by remember everything good in each day . Austin and I each list three things we ’re thankful for at the end of each day — and they have to be specific to that daytime , not openhanded oecumenical things like class or food .

What Next?

Once I defined self care as doing things to take care of myself , I make that there were a lot of free or tawdry things that I could do each day .

It ’s not really about spoil or treating myself . It ’s more about making indisputable I am as rested and good for you as possible , which sometimes means going to layer too soon and sometimes means I use grocery tone arm so that I can husband my time and energy for other thing .
