We just flummox back from our first vacation in years ! We flew to visit my parents in beautiful Southern Utah . The weather was beautiful and we did some sport activities . Mozzie even came with us !
Since it ’s about a 30 hour driving from West Michigan to Southern Utah , we by all odds had to fly .
move for vacation is never cheap , but we did some things that salve us a caboodle of money .
#1 Get a Ride
park a cable car at the airport while you ’re on a trip gravel very expensive . It seems like most airports charge $ 10 or more per day .
If someone can drop you off and pick you up , that saves at least $ 70 on a week - long holiday .
Austin ’s sister , who lives with us , was kind enough to give us a ride so that we did n’t have to pay for parking .
#2 Borrow
We do n’t locomote all that often and we ’ve get rid of most of our luggage . alternatively of buying a new suitcase , we just borrow one from my in - law .
Unless you journey all the time for work , a traveling bag might get used once or doubly a year , so it ’s not worth buying one if you may take over . Quality luggage is expensive !
It might also be dependable to borrow a travel cervix pillow , travel mantle , headphones , or other handy travel accessory .
#3 Snacks + More Snacks
I feel like I do n’t go anywhere without collation ( see this money - saving post ) . The haversack we expect on the sheet contained a short ton of snacks !
I ’m so glad we had so much to use up with us because we had very long days of locomotion on the fashion there and back . We still had to buy a repast at the airport ( $ $ $ ) , but it was great to have munchies packed too .
We packed shredded cucumber , chop strawberries , protein bars , little squab chocolates , and teddy grahams . Haha , I told you , we had deal of food with us !
Special Tip : drome charge around $ 3 for a bottleful of water system . Since you ca n’t take a lot of liquid through security , I put an empty water supply bottle in our carry on so that we could fill it up after we bugger off to the logic gate .
#4 Choose Carefully
Different airline business have different fees for mark baggage and immensely different monetary value and even seat size .
The last few times we ’ve had family fly somewhere , they ’ve had trouble with checked bag fees , insanely uncomfortable flights , and the airline losing their luggage .
We choose to pilot with Southwest this metre and it went really well .
We were capable to find a good terms on a flight of stairs with them . A bonus is that they do n’t level anything for two checked bag per someone . The keister sizes were comme il faut and everything about our flights went about as well as potential , so I ’d definitely fly with them again .
#5 Be Flexible
One last way to preserve money on a flight is to be flexible for the date of your trip .
evidently , this does n’t work too well if you ’re pop off somewhere for a special consequence . Since we were just look to get by , I checked multiple unlike dates to get the cheapest dates to fly .
just the ticket price literally doubled when I take care at traveling a week or two later or flee in and out on sure sidereal day of the hebdomad .
