Why is it so intemperate to “ be where you are ” ? It sure sounds like it should be easy .
But our psyche are meddling with stress and schedule . We ’re connected to applied science every hour of the day , which allows us to be cark . There ’s a awe that we ’re always drop out on something that ’s happening where we are n’t .
It ’s frustrating that it ’s so difficult to rivet on the present moment that ’s happen right now .
All this “ be in the moment ” talk can get a small out there and high disposed for me , so let ’s get supererogatory practical about what we can do today to inhabit in the moment .
1. Put Your Phone Down
I do n’t swear very often but I experience very powerfully about this , so I ’m just going to say : Put Your * bleep * Phone Down !
I cerebrate cell phones are the # 1 culprit for why we do n’t live in the moment these Clarence Shepard Day Jr. . We check our phones every spare mo we get ! We miss out on what is right in front of us .
When you ’re with family , you ’re texting your friends . When you ’re with those friends , you ’re texting other friends . It ’s like you ’re never felicitous with who you ’re withand enjoy their fellowship .
Plus , every possible secondment of boredom is fill up with browse societal media or ascertain YouTube video .
We miss so much of living in the moment by staring at a screen .
Austin and I did n’t get sassy phone until too soon last year ( waaaay belated to the party ) , so I did n’t have this gargantuan distraction connected to the end of my weapon everyday . I go to eating place and noticed people not associate to the people they were out with . I sat in waiting suite where no one ever front up . It ’s crazy ! Now that I have a smart earpiece , I know that I can certainly be shamefaced of this too .
If you want to exist in the moment , make a conscious effort ( and it does take effort ) to put your phone down . You do n’t have to look into it every time it dong at you . countenance the people you ’re with experience that they are your precedency in that moment .
2. Stop Researching and Start Experiencing
I ’m a with child - time researcher . It ’s severe for me to jump into anything until I ’ve looked up everything I can attend up . I want to bang the unknowable . I want to make out precisely what ’s going to happen before I do something .
You have it off what ? Sometimes you ca n’t acknowledge what ’s going to happen . And that ’s good !
While I ’m look on to see how other people do thing and see what happens when they hear , I could have been doing it myself .
Things like trying a new by-line , leaping to a young occupation , begin a blog , going to a newfangled club or grouping … I have to cue myself to go through it or else of research it .
There comes a time when you need to stop search and stop watching everyone else while thinking “ I depend I could do that ” , and do it ! See what happen . No experience is ever wasted .
3. Use Your Inspiration Well
I used to be on Pinterest all the sentence immobilise gorgeous room makeover , delectable recipe , physical exercise ideas , and more . It ’s a fabulous place to look for intake !
While I still use Pinterest a mint for business purposes , my personal function of it has changed . I feel like I was spending all this time being inspired and spending zero time using that breathing in . That ’s not living in the moment . It turn over into watching or else of doing , if you get laid what I have in mind .
These days when I get on Pinterest , I ’m usually research for ideas for a project I ’m actually going to do ! I look up workout ideas and then contain them into an upcoming physical exercise . I look for chicken marinade because I ’m plan to marinade some chicken .
Looking at inspiration as a pastime became less and less inspiring when I never did anything about it . It kind of became uncheerful as I palpate like other citizenry were doing things with their life history that I wish I could do . But I could do those things if I take off my butt and begin experiencing lifetime !
Inspiration is smashing if you use it well .
4. Stop Watching Someone Else’s Greatest Hits
Some citizenry seem to have the most enchanted and interesting lives , right ? It ’s hard to remember that their Instagram pics or Facebook situation are only showing their “ greatest hit ” . It ’s just the good stuff . You do n’t see the sorry and frustrative part .
Watching other hoi polloi ’s good consequence can easy make me start to finger like my life is boring , unfair , or just plain stinky . Not true at all !
Be busy out know your amazing life — living in the import ! You do n’t have time to ghost about someone else ’s fabulous - face life sentence ( which I ’m sure is far from perfect ) when you ’re enjoy your alone life .
By the way , I usually get sucked down the rabbit hole of looking at other hoi polloi ’s “ greatest smash ” when I ’m well-worn , worked up , and should probably be slumber . Be aware of getting sucked down the rabbit pickle lately at night and just go to bed !
5. Find a Mantra
I ’ve been find that repeating helpful reminders to myself can get me back on track to how I ’d like to be thinking .
If you want to hold up in the moment , try cerebration of a mantra that you could repeat to yourself throughout the day . It ’ll cue you to savor exactly where you are .
Some idea are :
repeat phases like this have helped me put my phone down , take a deep breath , and betroth in what ’s happening around me .
I ’ve ground that the more I work at survive in the moment , the well I get at it . It ’s like developing a raw use or practicing a skill . Mindfulness is hard to develop , but so deserving it .
I have meaningful conversation with loved ones , create merriment memory , and make my life-time more what I desire it to be when I go in the moment .
