Eating s’mores probably conjures up all sorts of childhood memories — everything from backyard campfires to informal nights in front of the fireplace . But who fare up with this rich and gooeychocolateand roastedmarshmallowsmess ?

No one knows the accurate date , but sometime in the late 1920s , someone came up with the brilliant idea to take agraham cracker , smack a few bit of hot chocolate on top and then add a toast marshmallow to create the ooey , gooey , sticky sandwich we know and screw . The first official recipe was published in the 1927 Girl Scout guidebook " Tramping and Trailing with the Girl Scouts , " so they decidedly get most of the deferred payment .

The guidebook let in all case of hint and advice on how to be a Girl Scout — think hike , building campfire and cooking in the wild . That ’s where the " Some More " appear , with a recipe for what we now know as the s’more . That famous formula call for 16 graham crackers , eight bar of chocolate and 16 marshmallows . Then it says to toast the marshmallow to a " crispy , gooey country , " and place a marshmallow on top of a deep brown bar and between two graham cracker bonbon .

The kicker is at the end of the recipe : " Though it tastes like ' some more ' one is really enough . " They were right about that !

If you ’re lust a s’more but do n’t have a campfire , you could still make the treat correctly in your kitchen . ( child should be sure a parent or other grownup supervises , of course . ) Using a gas or electrical stovetop ( or even a taper if the power has go out ) , put your marshmallow on a spliff , skewer or cookery fork and hold it over the heated up cooking element or low flame just like you would the campfire .
