It ’s crazy how much dirty laundry Austin and I can create in a week . I completely understand why menage with small fry can easily get overwhelmed !
We just moved out of our firm with a automatic washer and drier in the basement and into an apartment . The apartment does have laundry facilities , but they ’re two floors down and we have to pay off for each load .
I in spades seek not to do extra laundry unnecessarily while we were at our house , but I ’m super aware of it now that I have to swipe my credit card for each lavation and dry out .

How to Do Less Laundry
How Often We Wash Things
First , let ’s talk about how often to wash thing . When you wash clothes or linens less often , there ’s less laundry to do each week .
Sheets : We wash our sheet once a week . They start to feel kind of gross to me after that . I sleep with some hoi polloi change their sheet daily and others go a calendar month or two without washing their plane . I have to fink that in college , I probably fall into that latter family !

Jeans : I’ll wash my jean if I wore them for a whole day . I know most sources say to wear them a few times , but they feel extend out so I like the wash them .
brassiere : I’ll wear off bras multiple time before washing them unless I catch sweaty wearing one .
jammies : I bear pj’s pants for two nights , but I put on a fresh t - shirt each night .
Yoga Pants : Let ’s face it , I fundamentally populate in yoga pants . I outwear them for two days before throwing them in the laundry bundle .
Sweatshirts and Fleeces : I’ll wear sweatshirt and fleeces for a few day before washing them unless they get dirty .
Wear It Once : The things I ’ll only wear once are underwear , camisole , thyroxin - shirts , casual cotton tops , and sweaters . Those all go directly into the washables basketful .
mantle : I wash away the mantle on our bed and our comfy couch blankets about every three calendar month .

Don’t Wash What’s Not Dirty
To do less laundry , you necessitate to stop launder what ’s not dirty . To be successful , I think it help to have some systems in home .

In our honest-to-goodness house , we had tidy sum of towel rack in the bathroom . We had a mini - conference to decide which towel rack go to who so that we never mixed up towel .
In our apartment , the bathroom is tiny so we keep our towels in our bedroom . We have a blanket rack that I ’ll talk about later , and we ’ve each got a measure of that for our bath towels to dry out on now .
Another cracking thought is to point a specific color of towel to each person . This would be peachy for a category with multiple kids . Let each kid pick out what color towel they desire and corrupt each someone two or three of their coloring material . I will add , that I intend towels dry much better on a rack / bar instead of a hook . If you ’re trying to project out a system , having a towel bar or rack is definitely ideal .
Use a Blanket Rack

Like I mentioned before , we ’re also using our blanket rack to dry our bath towels on as well right now . Sometimes , when I plunk my clothes out for the next day I ’ll drape them on the stand too . essentially , it ’s a super handy spell of piece of furniture . Have Less
This might seems moderately obvious , but the last gratuity for doing less laundry is to have less laundry ( aka less wearable ) .
