The last few month have been some of the most expensive months of my life !
The good news is , I guess , that it could have been bad . Even in the midst of buying a house , multiple projects and leverage , and regular life , we ’ve grapple to save a hundred of dollars , perhaps more .
So here ’s the newest edition of ways we ’ve saved money recently
Ebates

Now , it ’s not a vast amount because it ’s just a small percent . What ’s slap-up is that you’re able to earn Johnny Cash back on top of any coupon codes you use on each website . Just in the last three months , I ’ve bring in over $ 50 cash back !

An Extra-Early Movie Date
It was sticker - impact for us to see how much movies cost in the bigger city we moved to ! We were used to the prices of our local 2 - screen movie house .

Anyway , we went to see Beauty and the Beast and made sure to go to a very early showing to save some money !
Renting and Borrowing Tools
Since we bribe our house , we ’ve refinish Grant Wood floor , revivify a division of roof , rekeyed locks and so much more . We ’ve saved hundreds , if not thousands , by lease and adoption tools .
We rent a floor smoother to refinish some hardwood floors , which made the job much easier . Austin ’s daddy actually borrow a lock set so that he could rekey our locks for us . Plus we borrowed tool from Austin ’s pa and one of his friends at work .
Unless we ’re sure we ’re going to expend a tool for multiple projects , we try not to corrupt it .
DIY
This go with the previous one but we ’ve done most projects ourselves instead of engage them out . It decidedly help oneself that Austin ’s dad has a lot of DIY cognition but he had never refinished wood floors before , so we ’ve still had to image things out as we go .
Austin also ran a accelerator pedal organ pipe for our dryer , installed different electrical outlets , and calk some spots on the roof . We just spent last weekend painting some internal room .
When we tackle a newfangled project , I seek to do a sight of enquiry online and we watch some video tutorial .
So far the only thing we ’ve hired someone to do was sportsmanlike out the air epithelial duct ( but I bring a dandy deal onGroupon , plus hard cash back withEbates ! )
Thrift Store Shopping
We found a fabulous penny-pinching store and each got some new clothes . I pen a situation aboutmy parsimony store shopping tipsthe other hebdomad if you want to check it out .

We had to buy a couch after we move because somehow our old couch deal to get into our previous apartment but could not come out . I have no idea how that ’s possible but we literally had to break it into pieces to get it out .
I was skittish to make such a grown leverage , specially since I did not inherit my pappa ’s mythologic negotiating skills .
We found a couch that we like and I e-mail the sales mortal we solve with the next daylight to demand if they could cover the sale tax and throw in spare delivery for us . I was super unrestrained that they agreed !
I was also super excited to finally have a couch to sit down on since we had been taking turn of events sit in our only comfy chair for weeks .
Money saving lesson learned : It never hurts to ask .
Making My Own Curtains
I made curtain and drapery pole to cover the huge walls of windows in our living room . I in the first place wanted some honeycomb shades but it was going to cost close to $ 600 ( ! ! ! ) to make that happen . For around $ 150 , I made my own curtain and rods .
I buy bedsheets for the material so that I did n’t have to chafe sewing much . inexpensive bedsheets are often less expensive than buying yard of material . I buy grommets to add to the top to make thing a minute fancy .
I also made my own curtain rods my painting electrical conduit . The bracket are made out of cubic decimeter - bracket and conduit straps . It was fundamentally a magpie James Henry Leigh Hunt at the ironware store to put it all together .
I still need to hem the bottom of the curtains a piece but I ’m super happy with the final stage result !
They ’re really hard to snap because of the Light Within coming in from the window , so here ’s the effective I could do , plus a item shot of the fabric .
Eating at Home
We have eaten at home much more in the last match of months and it has save us a tidy sum of money .
In the midst of move and work on the house , we had gotten in the use of wipe out takeout a mass . I ’m now in a good function of weekly meal preparation , food market shopping , and cooking at home .
I ’ve on purpose planned super childlike meals like quesadillas , paninis , and breakfast for dinner . Now that the weather is good , I ’ve been grill big mountain of volaille that we then eat all week in salads , sandwich , and other meals . # yummm
