After a few summer of never feeling like we did enough playfulness and exciting things to really bask the summer , I started making a summertime playfulness lean to cue us of awesome thing we could be doing with our time off .
West Michigan is an awesome place in the summer with gross ton of lake , beach , rivers , attractions , and nature . So I need to share with you my West Michigan Summer Fun List .
And If you do n’t befall to live in West Michigan , most of these activities can probably be find in your country too . It ’s almost summer y’ all ! ! !
Budgeting For Summer Fun Money $$$
There are scores of cheap  ways to delight the summer around here , but there are always supernumerary expenses here and there like parking fees , admission charge costs , and the price of go out for sparkler emollient atleasttwice a week . It all adds up .
Last yr , we claim a chunk of our taxation replication and keep open it to apply for play summertime - time activeness and it was awesome !
It was only a few hundred dollars , but we used it little by little all summer long to enjoy the summertime .
If you have n’t yet , I would start thinking about all of the summer activity you plan to do this summer and save up for them now so that you are free to fully enjoy the summer without worrying about money .
Summer Fun List: West Michigan Style!
Water Park: Michigan’s Adventure
I love a good daylight at an amusement park ! And since my fella incline to get wan on roller coaster , we seek to stick with water parks .
Michigan ’s Adventureis in West Michigan and has a pretty great water supply park .
We went last year on my birthday and had a super fun day .
It ’s definitely in our design do go again this year . And as far as entertainment - character parks go , it ’s really not too dear .
Tour: Country Dairy
I have to admit , this has been on our summer fun lean for about 3 class and we still have n’t done it .
Country Dairyis a expectant family farm that makes the BEST ice pick . Like , the best . There ’s one squall Nutty Java Moo that ’s a java ice emollient with cocoa comprehend orchis in it and I ca n’t get enough .
Anyways , their ice cream is sell topically at a few stores and you could visit the  farm to get ice ointment and other overbold products like high mallow and marrow .  They also have a chocolate milk fountain that Kid go crazy over .
We ’ve never done the tour  to see how and where they make the methamphetamine cream and it involve to happen this year .
Grand Haven’s Musical Fountain & Pronto Pups
Grand Haven has tons and tons to do all summer long including the well known  Coast Guard Festival .
We love going to Grand Haven to see theMusical Fountain . It has performances all summertime long after the sun go down . They light up the fountain in all different colors and set it to dissimilar music .
You watch it from across the canal that leads out to Lake Michigan . I thinking we ’ll go again this class when my mom comes to visit . My picture does n’t really do it justice at all . It ’s huge and beautiful . good of all , it ’s barren !
Anotherveryimportant cause to claver Grand Haven is forPronto Pups .
Pronto Pups are a fresh - made corndog that you have to eat  to understand . awesome .
It ’s a business that has been around since 1947 . They have a diminutive little stand on  the boardwalk and you are lucky if there are less than 10 hoi polloi in line in front of you .
you’re able to watch them dip the red-hot dog in their particular hitter and then fry it for a minute before giving it to you whip raging .
Oh , and if you need mustard or ketchup on it , they snarf it on with a grown paintbrush . I ’ve been craving a pronto pup all wintertime and I ca n’t hold back to go . Probably more than once .
And if you somehow get tire of all of the exciting bodily process in Grand Haven , you may always enjoy the beach , watch the sunset over Lake Michigan , and walk the dock . If you ’ve never been to Lake Michigan : No , you ca n’t see across it at all ( I get inquire that all the time ) .
Swimming
Swimming is certainly not just a West Michigan affair , but we have a ton of lake and beaches here !
We live less than a mile from the biggest lake in our city ( there are a lot of lakes in our midget Ithiel Town ) and we walk to the beach as much as we can . It helps that there is an crank emollient shop at the beach .
Plus , my in - laws have a pool , so we design to go swimming as much as possible this summer ! Mozzie prefer to stay dry .
Floating Down The River
The Muskegon River runs all through Newaygo County and we hold off for a exceedingly hot day to swim down the river in inner tube-shaped structure ( the water is always moth-eaten ) .
It ’s a fun , decompress way to pass a summer afternoon .
Ice Cream, S’mores, Campfires, & Summer Movies
We really had a campfire with s’mores on Mother ’s Day , but I ’m sure we ’ll do it many more times before the remnant of summertime .
I ’m quick for tons of crank cream , s’mores , and campfires !
Plus , there are always a lot of good movies that come out in the summer , so we ’ll use some of our summertime sport money to go see the one we ’re really excited about , which  usually mean the superhero movies . We already saw the new Captain America film last week !
