You might be surprised that I am not a fan of capsule press .
I am all about simplicity and only owning what you apply , need , and love .
The goals of a capsule wardrobe is to have a loo full of wearing apparel that you hump and that go together that you change out every season . I ’m all about have clothes that you get it on and that go together , I ’m just not about the “ change it out every time of year ” part and I ’ll separate you why .

What’s a seasonal capsule wardrobe?
A capsule wardrobe is a miniskirt - press of versatile piece that can be sundry and agree and outwear for a time of year . A luck of people aim to have 30 - 40 pieces in their capsule wardrobe , unremarkably including shoes .
Each season , you re - evaluate and create your new capsule and store most of your previous condensation for next year .
Although I understand the benefits of creating capsule wardrobes, I don’t use this system. Here’s why:
I Don’t Store Clothing
I ’ve never been one to stash away off - time of year wearable . I frankly just do n’t like the idea of storing things . I feel like if I do n’t ask it for most of the year , maybe I do n’t need it at all . Obviously , there are exclusion to that , but it ’s generally how I feel about storing things .
In Michigan , there are multiplication that I wear my fleeces in the summertime and I wear fruitless blouse under Cardigan Welsh corgi in the wintertime . The weather condition here can be screwball and if I hive away wintertime stuff , I think I ’d be digging into it on colder days in other seasons .
Here ’s the press my hubby and I portion out with all of our clothes ( except for a bureau of undies and such ):
I Want Everything in my Wardrobe to go Together
Instead of create mini wardrobes that go together , my goals is for my whole wardrobe to go together .
I corrupt mostly solid slanted clothing so that there are n’t too many prints to work around . Plus , I retrieve it helps to “ peck a neutral ” so that I always have shoes that can go with my clothes . My chosen neutral is black . I endeavor to make certain that my dress and shoes all can match with mordant . I mostly grease one’s palms dark shoe because other colors would only work sometimes .
I want as many thing to go together in my loo as possible .

As much as possible , I want most of my closet to be wearable for most of the year . Obviously , this is n’t completely manageable because there is no path I ’m extend to wear shorts in the winter when the wind - chill is -15 .
I wear thin dresses in the summer by themselves and in the winter with leggings , kicking , and a sweater . The same goes for skirts . I still wear upon pants in the summertime on coolheaded evenings . When it ’s dusty in the winter I stratum surcharge over long sleeve shirts . When it ’s cool in the summer I layer a foresightful sleeve shirt over a storage tank top . I have on the same PJs all year around .
I Treat My Entire Wardrobe as a Capsule
essentially , I require my intact press to be like a condensation that all goes together and can be worn for all seasons .
I am constantly paring down my closet to only the piece that I get it on and wear . My finish is to have a diminished and functional wardrobe that works all year long .
I ’d rather have a 50 slice wardrobe that act for the whole year than multiple 30 piece abridgement that I have to put in and switch out multiple times a year .
